Bali Vegan Festival 2018 – Canggu Edition

The Bali Vegan Festival is launching for the first time this year its Canggu edition. A celebration of animals, the environment and the earth. The community-minded festival aims to inspire, educate and enlighten about an alternative way of living. This edition will focus on environmental issues, oceans, surf, and fitness.

Since the festival was first established in 2015, with its first 3 years edition happening only in Ubud is now expanding to the up and coming coastal village of Canggu.

Its aim has been to give each participant the tools to fuel a global revolution through talks, hands-on workshops, cooking demos, and community discussions. The ultimate goal of the festival is for everyone to leave with the resources and community support to live out their cruelty-free lifestyle and spread the peace by example.

As the first and only vegan festival in Bali, a tourist hub with 4.2 million residents and millions of visitors every year, it has a tremendous responsibility to inspire. Vegans, vegan-curious, flexitarians, and omnivores are all welcome. Spreading the message is a two-way street, and Bali Vegan Festival will greatly benefit from each participant’s support and input, as the whole is greater the sum of its parts.

Where?

Canggu is a surfer’s paradise, with cleaner beaches and a trendier vibe than Seminyak and Kuta. It is home to some of the world’s best surfing spots, and a funky community of digital nomads. Tucked in between a meandering coastline and verdant rice fields, Canggu is a village where fun, yoga, and love of the ocean meet health and cruelty-free living. Its buzzing energy is all around and meshes perfectly with its outstanding vegan cafe culture and green juice bars, much needed to nourish such an active lifestyle.

Venues

The Festival main venue, Oasis Canggu Bali is an eco lifestyle resort in a peaceful area of Canggu and yet close to all bars, restaurants and one kilometre from the beach. The resort boasts a beautiful outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a lush tropical garden. Each room has a unique design and a terrace overlooking the pool and garden. Participants that have purchased a special combined ticket will spend the night in one of those gorgeous rooms. For the duration of the festival, the restaurant will be fully vegan.

Odyssey Movement is a yoga studio with a humorous twist, a true personal touch. The team believes in the power of adventure, fun, and community to cultivate a healthy body and mind. They’ve got energetic goals for a better, sustainable world and want to share it with all participants. Each fitness class has a unique name and starts every 4 minutes during opening times so everyone can truly go with the flow. There are many different formulas available, from unlimited memberships to drop-in classes.

The Vegan village
Both festivals will have as their focal point a vegan village, with free access for all. Vendors all throughout the festival will showcase their delicious vegan dishes, as well as vegan clothing, handicrafts, jewellery and beauty brands to sustainable charities. The vegan villages will be located within walking distance of the other venues. Inspirational talks, music and community activities will pop up in the marketplace to enrich the experience of the earth- conscious shoppers.
